Cartersville, GA., (JAN. 1, 2017) - Ismael Yoseph Chacaj Leon, 7 lbs., 10.2 oz., and 21 inches long, was the first baby of the year born at Cartersville Medical Center.
Proud parents Ana Leon and Marcos Chacaj Chvialan of Cartersville welcomed their healthy baby boy at 2:22 a.m. on Jan. 1 at Cartersville Medical Center. Stacy Kenner, M.D., OB/GYN, Cartersville OB/GYN Associates, delivered the newborn.
Mother/Baby services staff presented the family with a New Year gift basket in honor of their special delivery.
"Welcoming babies into the world is one of the most special parts of working in maternity services," said Kelly Costner, director of perinatal services at Cartersville Medical Center. "There is an extra sense of excitement and promise that comes with delivering the first baby of the New Year. We are proud to be part of the Leon/Chvialan family's special day."
Cartersville Medical Center delivers about 1,000 babies annually.
